SAMA licenses first account-information provider under Open Banking Framework
The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) licensed Malaa Company for Information Technology to provide payment account information services, one of the regulated activities under SAMA's Open Banking Framework, which SAMA moved from a supervised sandbox into a formally licensed activity in March 2026.
Formal licensing of account-information providers is a required step before open banking services can operate commercially in Saudi Arabia, directly affecting how banks, PSPs and fintechs may share payment account data under the Kingdom's Vision 2030 digital payments agenda.
