RBI publishes 'Payments Vision 2028' roadmap

The RBI published its 'Payments Vision 2028' roadmap, themed 'Shaping India's Payment Frontier', setting out initiatives through December 2028 including an interoperability framework for Trade Receivables Discounting Systems, a universal on/off switch for digital payment instruments, and streamlined cross-border payment authorisation under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act and FEMA.
As RBI's successor to earlier Payments Vision documents, this sets regulatory direction for India's digital payments ecosystem through 2028, including how cross-border payment authorisation will be streamlined.
