Mastercard completed its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK, adding BVNK's stablecoin payment and settlement infrastructure to Mastercard's global payments network.
This is one of the clearest signals yet of a major card network directly acquiring stablecoin infrastructure rather than only partnering, consolidating stablecoin settlement, issuance and payments capability inside an incumbent network.
